Abigail Pak (born 2004, San Antonio, Texas) is a Korean-American musician who began studying classical piano at a young age and debuted as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in 2017 at 13, after winning competitions that earned her the honor. She received multiple national and international classical music awards in her teens. She later taught herself accordion and percussion, developing a strong connection to cumbia rhythms. Now a linguistics student at Dartmouth College (Class of 2026), she serves as principal percussionist in the university wind ensemble. As a teenager, she discovered cumbia sonidera, adopted the accordion as her main instrument, and began blending her classical training and Korean heritage with Mexican urban cumbia. Under the name “La Coreañera,” she went viral in 2024 on TikTok and Instagram, gaining hundreds of thousands of followers. She has performed in Mexico, including closing the 3rd Maratón Sonidero at UNAM. In 2024, she signed with Universal Music México and GTS, securing campaigns with Netflix, Coca-Cola, and KFC. She has performed at Resuena 2025, UNAM’s Mega Ofrenda, and Mexico City’s Zócalo before 40,000 people, and will release her debut album in 2026.
