“Dreamlike.” “Poetic.” “Beautiful.” — this is how audiences describe Bára Zmeková’s performances. The moment she steps on stage, intimacy and imagination take over. A Prague-based singer, pianist and composer, she draws from the rich Czech singer-songwriter tradition while blending it with modern jazz and subtle electronics, creating music that feels both deeply rooted and strikingly contemporary. Her expression is civil yet emotionally powerful, inviting listeners into an inner world shaped by melody, atmosphere and nuance. Although she sings in Czech, language is never a barrier; the natural rhythm and softness of the language add a distinctive colour to her sound. Audiences across Europe and Japan consistently respond beyond words. Her trio moves between quiet minimalism and expressive intensity, built on strong melodies and precise interplay. The critically acclaimed Lunaves established her as one of the distinctive voices of the contemporary Czech scene. In 2024 came the album Jediný na světě, followed by the single Jiné stromy, recorded with Norwegian tubist Daniel Herskedal.Following their second Japan tour in early 2026, the trio heads to SXSW directly from Tokyo.
