Sonny Vercettie is a Texas native who grew up between McKinney and Kerrville after his family returned home following the murder of his aunt. Not long after, his father was violently shot outside their front door, setting the tone for years defined by instability, survival, and involvement with the Texas system. By the age of 10, Sonny was moving between women’s shelters with his mother and juvenile detention centers, later spending time in the Texas prison system. At 24, Sonny turned to music as a way to tell the truth about where he had been and what it cost him. His sound is raw, honest, and unfiltered, shaped by real life. These are stories told by the streets, and by someone who survived them.
