Mélat is a first-generation Ethiopian-American singer-songwriter born and raised in Austin, Texas, whose music bridges soul, R&B, and cinematic pop with threads of her Ethiopian heritage and mother tongue woven throughout. She tells stories of love, identity, and self-discovery, intimate in feeling, expansive in reach. She has headlined nationally, opened for acclaimed artists including Macy Gray, Thundercat, PJ Morton, and Kool & The Gang, among many others, and twice performed at the Kennedy Center for UNHCR's World Refugee Day.
